    Lane Simmons’ business experience in México began in the 1970’s and he became a permanent resident in 1995. Lane is a Certified International Real Estate Specialist, and since becoming the broker of RE/MAX Colonial in 1997, he and his team have helped hundreds of foreigners navigate the process of purchasing and selling real estate in the San Miguel de Allende area as well as elsewhere in México. When México established qualification procedures for federal certification of agents, in 2004 Lane became one of the country’s first 150 nationally accredited real estate professionals, and he participates in RE/MAX México’s continuing education courses for agents and brokers. In 2000, Lane authored a real estate buyer’s guide for foreigners that was endorsed by the editors of two San Miguel newspapers. He has written, been written about, and been interviewed for numerous articles for English-language newspapers in México, and international publications including CNN, Money, Financial Times, Discover Mexico, and International Living. Lane has also shared his knowledge of living and investing in México and the Mexican real estate market as a guest speaker at conferences and seminars internationally, and the local college, Instituto Allende. Having resided in several diverse areas of México, Lane first visited San Miguel de Allende in 1991. Although he and his family very much enjoy traveling to other parts of the country’s interior and coast, Lane, his wife Becky and their children Francisco and Gloria prefer San Miguel as their home.

    Coming from Southern California, as early as when I was 11 years old, I always looked forward to participate in the Hidden Hills, California "Fiesta" and loved the various themes based on Mexico in so much as I learned many equestrian skills at singer Vicki Carr's home in order to ride my 16.5 hand high horse "Doc Holiday" wearing my Charro outfit. Approximately 30 years later, who would of thought those childhood heartfelt experiences could evolve into signing my Nationality papers to become Mexican here in the state of Guanajuato. My 25 year marriage to my Puebla, Mexico beautiful wife and partner in many property investment ventures may have swayed me in that direction. It was around the fall of 2002 while we both were successfully working on the coast of California, like many, we still felt the somber aftermath in the USA evident from what is known as "September 11 or 9/11." One October day, I mentioned a need for a change. What came to mind was not the familiar Cabo San Lucas in Baja California that previously I had business and vacation ties to, but instead that little town with USA Expats and retirees a few hours from Pátzcuaro, Morelia called San Miguel de Allende. Previously we visited San Miguel de Allende for only a few days, prior to El Dia de los Muertos festivities in Pátzcuaro. "How would you feel about renting a place and checking it out? I asked my wife---The rest is history. During my pursuit of successfully gaining Dual Citizenship in the USA and Mexico I have obtained: -A valid license with the State of California Bureau of Real Estate since October 2003 -Graduated with Bachelor of Arts University of California Santa Barbara December 1992 in the studies of Criminal Justice. -Travels and Business ventures throughout Mexico for past 25 years, including Cabo San Lucas, Cancun, Ajijic, Puebla, Querétaro and of course San Miguel de Allende. Various projects including: Property rehab & renovation, construction, land development, rental property and REO investment in California, Washington State and various strategically analyzed zones in Mexico including all of the previously mentioned areas with multiple investment ventures accomplished in our local San Miguel de Allende vicinity. My goal is to pass along some of my experiences, provide outstanding customer service, help people make smart investment decisions, and most importantly find like minded people with an appreciation and fascination for Mexico, Mexican people and the multitude of the culture, folklore and beauty in this land to share my life experience with.
